Catholic News Agency reports that Archbishop Timothy Broglio officiated a Mass at the U.S. Capitol in honor of the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe this week. About 30 members of Congress and congressional staff attended the Mass.
After the Mass had ended, a representative from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office approached Archbishop Broglio to inform him that Nancy Pelosi was coming to “say hello” and that she had also wished to “receive Communion.”
Broglio agreed to meet with Pelosi but did not give her Communion.
Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco has prohibited Pelosi from receiving Communion because of her support for abortion.
Pelosi recently told the National Catholic Reporter that she “received Communion anyway” and said: “That’s his problem, not mine.”
