WATCH: Fall River Pastor Placed on Leave Amid Repeated Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Officials announced Father Jay Mello has been placed on leave by the Diocese of Fall River after allegations of sexual misconduct.

On Wednesday, an attorney revealed that this was not a first for the well known Pastor.

“My client at the time of the sexual abuse was 28 years old, and he was an adult who trusted Father Mello, and Father Mello took advantage of him sexually, there was no consent in this sexual relationship. It was a violent incident that lasted minutes,” said Mitchell Garabedian, an attorney.

Garabedian said the abuse took place in 2013 at Saint Francis Xavier Parish in Acushnet.
