Toronto: Virgin Mary Statue Decapitated

A Toronto church has contacted police after a statue of the Virgin Mary on its property was decapitated over the weekend.

In a Facebook post, Our Lady of Lebanon Parish, near Queen Street West and Beaty Avenue in Parkdale, said it was “shocked to discover a horrible act of vandalism” on Sunday.

“We found that the statue of the Virgin Mary, erected in front of the church, was completely decapitated,” the post reads. “We couldn’t find the head anywhere near the statue.”

The church said it has contacted police to investigate, but spokesperson Const. Caroline de Kloet said the service does not have a report on file yet.
