Your Eminence:

WHEREAS, Víctor Manuel Fernández (Tucho), head of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF), has failed in his duty to safeguard the Deposit of Faith, causing great scandal and confusion, by:

  1. Writing multiple scandalous publications prior to his elevation as Prefect of the DDF, including Heal Me With Your Mouth, Mystical Passion, Spirituality and Sensuality and several other publications, then latter attempting to conceal their existence;

  2. Authoring major portions of the apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia, issued by Pope Francis on March 19th 2016, which disagreed with a number of teachings of the Catholic Church on faith and morals.

  3. Issuing a formal declaration entitled Fiducia Supplicans on December 18, 2023, which contradicts Catholic teaching on homosexuality and has been rejected by numerous bishops and bishops’ conference around the world.

THEREFORE, we the undersigned do hereby call for the immediate resignation of Cardinal Fernández as the head of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith.

Petition Asking Pope Francis to Resign If Allegations Are True

Your Holiness,

On August 22, 2018, Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, who served as Apostolic Nuncio for the United States from 2011-2016, issued a statement claiming that Your Holiness knew about strict canonical sanctions imposed on Cardinal Theodore McCarrick by Pope Benedict XVI, but that you chose to repeal them. Vigano claims that your Holiness not only “continued to cover him” but also made McCarrick your “trusted counselor” who helped you to appoint a number of bishops in the United States, including Cardinals Blase Cupich of Chicago, Joseph Tobin of Newark, and Kevin Farrell.

Vigano\'s statement also implicates a long list of other Cardinals and bishops who reportedly knew about McCarrick\'s abuse accusations and participated in the cover-up of these abuses.

On February, 21, 2019, Argentine newspaper, El Tribuno, published documents demonstrating that your Holiness has known about accused sexual abuser Gustavo Zanchetta since 2015 and yet promoted him to post of assessor of APSA.

If these allegations are true, I respectful ask Your Holiness to acknowledge your mistakes and, in keeping with your proclaimed principle of \"zero tolerance\", I urge you to set a good example and resign, requesting all cardinals and bishops who participated in the covered-up of sexual abuse do the same.
