In the odor of a conclave, on March 25, 2025, the SNAP network (Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests) wrote to Secretary of State Cardinal Parolin and to the Prefect of the DDF Cardinal Fernández, to denounce the alleged failings of Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, Prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops, accused of having covered up for two pedophile priests.
Informed of the fact, Bergoglio immediately had Prevost called, but not to admonish him; on the contrary, the facts show that he encouraged him to continue, assuring him of all his protection.
In an article of May 6, referring to the imminent conclave, the director of La Nuova Bussola Quotidiana, Riccardo Cascioli, wrote: “it becomes of primary importance that the cardinals avoid voting for anyone who has been involved in these years in episodes of corruption and sexual abuse […] it is disturbing to see in these days among the rising names of papabili that of Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost.”
Evidently in that period few imagined that “Pope Francis” had already chosen and recommended as his successor the one whom he had appointed bishop in 2014, called to head the Dicastery that appoints bishops in 2023, and created cardinal on September 30 of the same year.
Meanwhile Bergoglio proceeded to appoint as the new bishop of Chiclayo the Augustinian Edinson Edgardo Farfán Cordova, another protector of abuser priests and personal friend of Prevost, charging him with silencing the accusations against the pedophiles he had protected.
In the interview with Leo XIV by Elise Anne Allen, which became the book León XIV, Ciudadano del mundo, misionero del siglo XXI, it is related that Bishop Prevost had suspended from the priestly ministry Eleuterio Vásquez González, known as Father Lute, but this is false, because he had only removed him from the parish.
Among the various lies contained in Allen’s book, Prevost dwells at length in trying to convince readers that he had no doubts, because an American would never have succeeded in becoming Pope; continuing to lie, he affirms that he had welcomed with every attention the victims of Lute on April 5, 2022, and had assured them of his interest and support.
This book had the purpose of clearing Prevost of every accusation, yet it revealed an essential particular: on April 23, only two days after the death of Bergoglio, and therefore – as chance would have it – in anticipation of the election of Prevost, the bishop of Chiclayo Farfán Córdova had received the abused sisters in order to find a “definitive” solution to their case.
With the intent of discrediting the work of the canonist priest and exorcist Ricardo Coronado, charged with defending the minor victims of Lute, citing can. 1483 of the Code of Canon Law, on August 24, 2024 the Peruvian Episcopal Conference notified him (without having the authority to do so) of the revocation of his ecclesiastical advocacy, for having had consensual relations with an adult.
In full dictatorial regime, four months later Coronado received the communication of his dismissal from the clerical state with a papal decree, but the document did not bear the autograph signature of Francis. Referring to these facts, on October 27, 2025 InfoVaticana wrote: “Today, there are already very clear indications, which InfoVaticana has rigorously documented and denounced, of a carefully orchestrated communication campaign to whitewash the image of all the subjects involved in the so-called Lute case. The objective is not to clarify the facts, but to rewrite them, constructing a ‘conspiracy’ narrative aimed at discrediting the victims and their former lawyer.”
The same day Coronado replied with a letter to the same blog, in which he accused Prevost of having falsely accused him of a sexual scandal and wrote: “I take the opportunity to underline the possible public, ongoing and permanent sin of the then Bishop Prevost and to invite him to conversion.”
Even the article in El País of October 1 had been written with the intention of manipulating the testimony of Ana María Quispe Díaz (one of the victims), who had affirmed: “Unfortunately, Robert Prevost did not act correctly in our case.”
In the month of September the women in question had expressly asked that no dispensation be granted to the incriminated priest Vásquez, until an adequate investigation had been conducted and a verdict reached. As a response they were handed an anonymous message from the Vatican, without envelope, without official seal or case number, in which it was communicated that the Pope had granted their aggressor the grace of dispensation from the clerical state, and for this reason he was no longer imputable.
Feeling mocked even by Leo, in November 2025 Quispe Díaz released a statement that concluded thus:
“For this we announce:
– The initiation of legal actions before the competent canonical authorities against all the ecclesiastical officials who participated in or were responsible for such negligences.
– The formal presentation of our case to associations of abuse victims throughout the world, so that it may be heard and so that we may work together for a true change within the Church.
– The immediate communication of the case to the Vatican Commission for the Protection of Minors, asking that it analyze what happened and adopt measures in the face of the abuse suffered.
– The request for a personal audience with the Pope, to explain to him the pain that situations like this cause to the victims and to ask him for a change of course in the way the Church addresses cases of abuse.”
These facts alone would be enough to make Robert Francis Prevost, those who defended him and those who elected him, ashamed. The big newspapers censored everything, while bishops and cardinals were too busy venerating the relics of the holy father Pope Francis at Santa Maria Maggiore, to occupy themselves with the case.
The entourage of the Vatican mafia did not remain idle, and in March 2026 Rai News.it picked up an article from El País, on a case of pedophilia covered up by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger; it was nothing other than the umpteenth calumny against the one who had truly fought pedophilia, but this is what the system required. Scandal within the scandal, InfoVaticana published a photo of March 8, 2026, in which during a parish event Eleuterio Vásquez appeared smiling next to Fr. Edward Tocto, intimate friend of Prevost and his former lawyer in the Lute case.
I summarize in a few lines a disconcerting interview of a few days ago, lasting more than 47 minutes, granted by the priest Ricardo Coronado to the director of LifeSiteNews, John-Henry Westen.
“Against me a true and proper persecution was unleashed, because I was not liked by Bishop Prevost. Having returned to Peru from the United States, I was accused of concubinage by the bishop of Colorado Springs, James Robert Golka, and subsequently I suffered another accusation of pedophilia.
Prevost instructed a fifty-year-old woman to invent accusations against me. After the victims of Lute turned to the bishop of Chiclayo, Prevost replied that it was not within his competence to intervene, and promptly wrote to the competent authorities of the Vatican, assuring that there was no evidence against Vásquez González.
The incriminated priest knew too many things, and for this reason he had to be protected by Prevost. The victims asked for my help because in Peru no canonist would have accepted to defend them, because of the power of the people involved in the facts. No Episcopal Conference in the world has the power to intervene jurisdictionally over a priest, and yet, after Prevost came to Peru, and confronted several bishops – among them the president of the Episcopal Conference Héctor Miguel Cabrejos Vidarte –, a press release was issued that prevents me from acting as a lawyer.
The Jesuit Carlos Cardó Franco, intimate friend of Bergoglio, telephoned a lawyer friend of mine who is a civilist, who was supposed to convince me to leave the priesthood, because they had received superior orders to protect Prevost.
