Matthew 12:34 “You brood of vipers! How can you speak good, when you are evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
This might not come as an immense shock to anyone who has read my previous work, but I am absolutely bullish when it comes to Christianity and our history. Despite our current struggles and stumblings, history is replete with examples of Christian heroism, sacrifice, and glory. While we can be honest where we’ve erred (and none more so than in our modern age), we need not hang our heads or shuffle our feet about the glorious inheritance we have from saints past.
From the Apostles to Constantine to Charles Martel to Skanderbeg to Charles Napier, we see that when Christians are united in purpose and cleave to Holy Scripture, they are capable of almost anything. From great conquests against impossible odds to missions of mercy to beggar the mind to grand efforts of artifice and exploration, the arc of Christian history is storied and glorious, and I would have us return to those golden days.
So how do we get back there?
Well, as I said at the outset, it requires two things, and they are often interlinked: brotherly unity (not uniformity) and holding fast to what Scripture teaches.
There are a variety of reasons that these two seemingly simple pillars to Christian greatness can remain elusive in any age, but in our time, one of the most insidious is the progressive apostate wearing the garb of the faithful. These individuals are more insidious than the standard prog attempting to triangulate their political convictions with some loose understanding of the gospel, the progressive Christian. Rather than some sort of limp synchronism, these snake-tongued, wolf-mouthed subversives seek a blasphemous baptism, using every sacrament as a springboard for their unholy agenda. Feigning clerical facades, they seek political apotheosis by building and practicing abominations on holy ground.
They are the political heretics, announcers of anti-Christ, and perhaps one of the greatest threats to the restoration of Western civilization.
