The Diocese of Fall River announced Father Jay Mello will not be returning to St. Michael and St. Joseph Parishes after a sexual misconduct investigation.
Mello was placed on leave in June 2024 after allegations of sexual misconduct.
Bishop Edgar M. da Cunha, S.D.V. said that some of the allegations were credible, including that Mello abused his position of power as a priest and engaged in sexual misconduct with two parishioners he was counseling.
