WATCH: Catholic Facility Sheltering Illegals Leads To Allegations Of Children Living In Filth

 
In 2021, a surge of migrants flooded across the U.S.-Mexico border, resulting in overcrowded camps in the region.

But the crisis also had an impact on western Pennsylvania.

Recently obtained documents reveal a breakdown in communication between the federal government and a Moon Township shelter that led to an accusation of children temporarily living in filthy conditions.

In spring 2021, the quiet campus of Sacred Heart Convent in Moon was turned into a shelter for 68 migrant children. This left neighbors surprised.

“We never even knew they moved in it. I mean, they just appeared, and it was all done overnight,” said Michael Walter, who lives across the street.

At the time, thousands of children were flooding the border, many ending up in overcrowded camps, including one in Donna, Texas. But in an email obtained by a watchdog group, one shelter worker said conditions in Texas were far better than what they saw at the facility in Moon, which is run by Holy Family Institute.

“This place in PA is deplorable,” said the worker, whose name was not revealed.
