Albany Diocese Confirms New Sex Abuse Allegations

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany says two new names from the clergy have been brought to their attention in connection with abuse allegations.

“Our independent Review Board is currently investigating allegations of abuse against one retired priest and one deceased priest. Both cases were sent to the DA, as is our policy. When the DA returns cases to us, we are allowed to begin our own investigation. A decision is being made as to whether, out of an abundance of caution, the retired priest, who is not in ministry, should be put on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Once the Diocesan Review Board reaches a final determination, if either priest is found to have reasonable grounds for abuse against a minor, they will be added to our List of Offenders,” spokeswoman, Mary DeTurris Poust told NewsChannel 13.
