Why Faithful Catholics Should Reject Wilton Gregory as Archbishop of Washington, D.C.

Its now official: Pope Francis has named Wilton Gregory as the next Archbishop of the scandal-plagued Archdiocese of Washington D.C. The announcement comes as a slap in the face to faithful Catholics who are trying to restore the integrity of the Archdiocese. Faithful Catholics should reject this decision for the following reasons:

TAKE ACTION: Send a message to the Vatican, the US Papal Nuncio and the Archdiocese of Washington D.C.

I Reject the Appointment of Wilton Gregory as Archbishop of Washington D.C.

I am shocked by recent reports that Archbishop Wilton Gregory is to be named as the new Archbishop of Washington D.C. This news amounts to a slap in the face of faithful Catholics. Wilton Gregory's ties to the disgraced Joseph Bernadine and Theodore McCarrick should have been enough to automatically disqualify him from consideration. But Gregory has also been an advocate for homosexual dissenters in the Archdiocese of Atlanta. In addition, Gregory, together with Theodore McCarrick, concealed the contents of the letter from Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith Joseph Ratzinger in 2003 advising the U.S. Bishops that ministers of Holy Communion must refuse to distribute Holy Communion to pro-abortion politicians. I therefore urge the Holy Father to reconsider his decision and name a faithful shepherd as the new Archbishop of Washington D.C. who will restore the integrity of this office which has been so thoroughly damaged by the legacies of Donald Wuerl and Theodore McCarrick.
