Media reports show Donald Wuerl lied about his knowledge of Theodore McCarrick’s sexual abuse. You bishop now has an important choice to make. He must now call for removal of Donald Wuerl from public ministry or be complicit in his silence. There is no middle ground.
If a bishop cannot publicly denounce the behavior of another bishop that has been shown to have cover-up and lied about sexual abuse, what hope do we have of ever having meaningful reforms that will cleanse the Church of the cancer of sexual abuse?
