What Has Been Reported
- In 2015, O’Malley’s office received a letter from Rev. Boniface Ramsey accusing McCarrick of sexual improprieties. Three months after receiving the letter, O’Malley joined McCarrick on a trip to Cuba, posting an account of the trip on his personal blog and sharing a stage with McCarrick in Havana. When confronted in the media about Ramsey’s letter, O’Malley issued a carefully-crafted statement implying he knew nothing about McCarrick, while avoiding saying that directly.
- In 2016, O’Malley’s office was reportedly sent a copy of a letter from Richard Sipe detailing accusations of sexual abuse by McCarrick
